I saw quite a lot of these in Nebraska. They are hundreds of feet long, and spread water across a field. Since they pivot around a fixed point, the well-irrigated part of the field becomes a healthy green circle, and you can easily see many such circles from a plane or google maps :) The image below is from wikipedia (and NASA, indirectly).
